Angelica root – Also known as wild celery, angelica is an expectorant and is anti-inflammatory and has many diverse uses. It has been used for acid reflux, heartburn and intestinal gas as well as loss of appetite. Angelica is also good for coughs and colds and allergies and asthma due to its expectorant qualities. It is used for pain from nerve or joint pain as well as arthritis. It is used directly on the skin for many skin disorders as well as for pain. Angelica is also useful for insomnia. As angelica contains coumarins, it is not to be used along with warfarins and should not be used during pregnancy. Diabetics should not use angelica either.
