Beginning to use herbs

So let’s begin our journey.  I know you have many questions – what are herbs? – how do I use them? – what about my doctor? – and many others.  Let’s start by addressing some of these right now:

  • Herbs, as used for medicinal purposes, can include many things such as plant leaves, roots, and flowers, bark and leaves and roots from trees, things are usually considered spices, and even fruits, and berries, and other things we normally consider as food.
  • Safety in using herbs is most important.  If you are seeing a physician for your treatment, always be sure to discuss any alternative you are considering with your doctor before beginning any new herbs, supplements, or other treatments.  Your doctor needs to be aware of all of this.
  • The best practice in beginning to use herbs is to add only one herb at a time so that if you have any result, whether good or bad, you will know that the herb you just added is the one that gave you the result.  Most formulas contain so many herbs in them it makes it hard to identify which herb in it gave you a good result, or which one caused some reaction you don’t like.

      You are so welcome George. Not only do we have what we need in nature, our bodies were designed to auto-correct when things are out of line, it’s just a matter of giving them what they need to do that! Thanks for the supportive words.
